6 Quick Pasta Recipe Ideas

You are currently viewing 6 Quick Pasta Recipe Ideas

We love pasta because it’s quick, tasty, filling and there’s so many ways to make a delicious dinner out of just a few ingredients. If you find yourself staring at the shopping list and are wondering what to cook this week or you’re just looking for a tasty new pasta dish, here are 6 quick pasta recipe ideas from the blog to try.

1. Smoked Salmon, Lemon & Caper Pasta

The great thing about this recipe (found in Waitrose Food Magazine) is that you can prepare the ingredients whilst the pasta is boiling and have it served up in a matter of minutes. Perfect for Spring or Summer evenings when you’d rather be outside enjoying the sunshine rather than slaving away in the kitchen.

2. Crab Linguine with Parsley and Chilli

Still one of my favourite recipes for crab linguine is this one by Rick Stein (found on the BBC Good Food website). The key to making this dish spectacular is by using the best crab meat and olive oil that is available to you. The original recipe uses a combination or brown and white crab meat, but I prefer to use white meat only. This recipe requires a little more effort, but cooking time including preparation should only take about 30 minutes.

3. Agretti Spaghetti

Agretti aka ‘monks beard’ is loved by Italian chefs, although the grassy greens are slightly less known in the UK. I’m not aware of any supermarkets selling agretti, however you may have more luck asking about it from your local farm shop. I was able to pick mine from The Walled Gardens at Croome Court in Worcestershire who are currently offering pots for sale to their visitors. If you can’t find any then just replace the agretti with samphire.

This is a really simple recipe which explains how to prepare and cook the agretti and is served with spaghetti, parmesan and pancetta.

4. Pasta with Tuna, Garlic and Parsley

It really doesn’t get much more simple than this tuna, garlic and parsley pasta recipe. It uses ingredients that you’re likely to already have in the cupboard (maybe not the fresh parsley, but I bet you’ve got everything else). Again this super quick pasta dish can be made in minutes as everything can be mixed together whilst the pasta is cooking. It works well with penne, tagliatelle or linguine and you could use fresh pasta if you are really short for time.

5. Mediterranean Pork and Orzo

Orzo are the tiny pieces of pasta that almost look like grains of rice. You will find it in the dried pasta aisle in most supermarkets or in your local delicatessen. I love this Mediterranean pork and orzo recipe (found on the Taste of Home website) because it’s light, healthy and can be cooked and on the plate within 30 minutes. It also inspired me to make this Mediterranean Orzo Salad too, which is perfect for lunch or as a BBQ side dish.

6. Smoked Mackerel Carbonara

Get outside and pick some wild garlic to add to this delicious midweek dinner. All of the credit goes to Gills Gills Gills for the comforting, easy and nutritious recipe I found on their blog. I’m not a fan of rocket so use lots of samphire for added crunch and texture. It only takes 15 minutes from start to finish. Give it a try, you’ll be glad you did!
